Parent Book Check-out Hours

Parents, you may visit the Hinojosa library and check-out five books a week.

You must have a valid ID to enter the school.

Parents may only visit on Wednesdays from 8:30 - 12:00

Parent book check-out begins October 5th!

Padres, ustedes pueden visitar la biblioteca de Hinojosa y sacar hasta 5 libros por semana.

Necesitan tener una identificación válida para entrar a la escuela.

Student Information

Students visit the library once a week to check out his or her "special" book. They are allowed to take the book home and return it the following Monday morning.

Damaged and Lost Library Books

Please treat our books with tender loving care!

Damaged books need to be turned in to the teacher or librarian. A fine will be assessed if the book cannot be repaired. Lost books need to paid for in the library when they are due. If the book is found, the payment will be returned.

Our Hinojosa students will be involved in a district wide push to read, read, read. This day is called the Drop Everything And Read day.
This event kicks off the summer reading challenge sponsored by Scholastic Book Fairs.Your child will be receiving information about the summer reading challenge in their backpacks in May.

Book Fair

Our book fairs are held in September and February. Many students and parents purchase books for their home libraries at this time while supporting Hinojosa!

Family Pumpkin Contest

The Family Pumpkin contest allows the child to decorate a pumpkin in his/her favorite book character. the families decorate a pumpkin and turn it in to the library. the pumpkins are displayed and the students pick the top three pumpkins to be voted on at our Fall Festival in November.

Annual Book Parade

Our Hinojosa Book Parade in November was a huge success! Students dressed up as their favorite characters and held a parade for their parents.


Super Reader Reading Program

This program begins in October and the families are asked to read daily to their child. Each family will  log in each title read and the log sheet is turned in monthly. Each child who reads over 80 books in the four month program will be invited to the Super Reader Reading Program Party in late April.

Dr. Suess' Birthday Celebration

Dr. Suess' Birthday Celebration - Read Across America.  On the evening of March 2nd, we want you to pick up a book and read to a child.  Please see the link below for more information.
